Hand Theatre is a
puppet and drama formation established by Ivomir Ignatov- Keny in Paris,
France in 1990.The theatre got its name on its first performance in 1990
on the international puppet festival “Festival Mondial de la marionette
a Charleville Mezieres”. Mr. Freek Neruing- chief manager of Tepto
Theatre, Gent, Belgium and Mr. Marianne Hicter director of The
Puppet-Informational Centre Babylon- Brussels, Paris, France were amazed
by Ivomir Ignatov’s authors performance with bare hands called EGO so
they gave the name of the theatre and called it Hand Theatre.
A mission of Hand Chamber Theatre is to popularize styles in which the
team of actors will perform. These styles are: pantomime, puppet theatre
for children and adults, drama theatre, comedy with situations in its
essence, stand-up comedy, clowns’ shows and street theatre. The purpose
of our repertoire is most of all comedy .We believe that using jokes we
speak in each languages and our messages reach further and stay longer
in people’s minds. Through innovatory and original methods we would be
happy to increase the interest to the theatrical art. We undertake to
popularize outfield kinds of theatre like Japanese traditional puppet
theatre Bunracu, Javanerin puppet theatre, Indian and Chinese shade
theatre for Bulgarian audience, too.
Schools for children, teenagers and adults will be created in addition
to the theatre where they will study comedy, drama, puppet theatre,
orthoepy, heuristic for beginners. The purpose of these schools is to
rouse interest for theatrical art and to turn it into love and inner
necessity.
The team of Hand Theatre undertakes monthly to perform beneficial
gratuitous shows for needy groups from our town.
The theatre will perform in various places – stages, clubs, kinder –
gardens, schools, streets etc. The diversity of the styles used by our
team makes our performances suitable to many occasions. Our team has
participated in festivals, charity performances, corporative parties,
official theatrical and puppet performances, promotions, exhibitions,
literary presentations etc in more than thirty countries all over the
world.
This year to our theatre has been given the opportunity to establish its
own hall for rehearsals and performances in Plovdiv. The premises is
ninety square meters and it is situated in a building on Ruski 18 avenue
next to Drujba School.
